4 mph wind charts

4 mph wind charts

Below are the compensations that I have found to be effective when making approach shots with a 4 mph wind.  The notations below utilize the symbols and designations from my original targeting system guide.  Essentially, the numbers represent the number of dots the pointer must be moved forward (F) or to the right (R) with the wind blowing in indicated directions; the wind direction is shown as an arrow.

The charts are broken down according to the shot type chosen by the player (standard straight shot or high shot) and by total distance of the approach shot.  I have provided three different distances so that the player can learn how to calculate the number of dots at distance ranges not covered in these charts.

Finally, these compensations are for wind only.  If the player is following the targeting system, the player must still compensate for elevation, forward roll of the shot, fairway lie, and green slope in order to make the most accurate approach possible.  And, as usual, I advise the player to test and practice with these numbers at the Sawgrass 9-hole course before playing a real match.
